Mamaw's got a broken windshield...

This one comes from Teddy's grandmother. It happened at his fourth birthday party....

"A few weeks ago, I had cataract surgery on my right eye. As a result, I had to pop that lens out of my glasses so that my vision was correct for both eyes. At Teddy's fourth birthday party, he crawled up into my lap. I asked him if he saw anything wrong with mamaw's glasses? He gave me a quick glance and answered, yap, your windshield is broken."

What really holds our tongue in?

On the way to t-ball practice Monday, Teddy kept trying to drink an empty slushy. I told him he better watch it or he was going to suck his tongue right out. He replied, very authoritatively, "Mommy. That can't happen. Your tongue is glued into your mouth with your breath." Ahhh...I knew it stayed in there somehow!

The Moods of a Plate

I'm a pretty wordy person, so I have been trying to teach Teddy different words and their meanings. I mean, why have one word for, say blue, when there can be so many more. Take the word happy, for instance. I always encourage Teddy to make a "happy" plate--you know, eat everything I put on your plate or no dessert. Well, he is getting too smart. The other night at dinner he said, "Mommy." (LONG PAUSE) "Do I have to make a happy plate or a content plate?" I, of course, chuckled and said what? He repeated himself....and that night he got away with just a content plate.

It's Saint Patrick Day...where's Patrick?

This morning I told Teddy it was Saint Patrick's Day and he got all excited. He, of course, asked me if that meant he had to go to school. I said yes. He asked if he was supposed to wear green. I said, "That's right, very good." After he got up, he went to the back door and started looking outside. I asked him what he was doing, and he said looking for Patrick. It dawned on me he was talking about St. Patrick, and I tried to explain to him St. Patrick's Day. At four, he didn't quite get it. He did, however, tell me to go put some green on before St. Patrick came to pinch me.

Teddy is my four-year-old son who sees the world with such humor and joy that I always wish that I write down the things that he says. So, I've decided to do one better...share it in a blog. Every day is a new journey, filled with excitement for him and he learns and grows. I cannot wait to see what he will say next. I especially cannot wait for his baby brother to start talking to see what they will come up with together.
